Man from Parsons arrested after theft of several electronic devices from local resident
23-year-old William Lee Myers was arrested Wednesday afternoon
A man from Parsons was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of Aggravated Battery and Criminal Damage and Theft.
Originally, a Parsons police officer was dispatched to the 2100 block of Crawford Wednesday morning just before 6:30 a.m. to a report of someone breaking into a home and stealing a Nintendo Switch.
Upon arrival, the officer was informed by the victim that they had woken up to take their dog out when they noticed that the backdoor had been damaged.
The victim then looked at their video surveillance camera and discovered a white male that had entered the home and stolen several select electronics and then exited while the victim and his children were still asleep.
Those items included an Xbox One S game console, three controllers, and the previously mentioned Nintendo Switch and an additional controller.
The suspect was identified by Parsons officers as 23-year-old Parsons resident William Lee Myers.
Later that same day around 12;50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the same neighborhood after reports of Myers being seen.
An officer arrived at the area and identified Myers from the video, who was then arrested.
A backpack Myers was carrying had all the stolen items that were previously reported missing.
Myers was taken to the Parsons Police Department.
