Man from Carthage succumbs to injuries he sustained after Tuesday afternoon crash

A man from Carthage succumbed to his injuries after being involved in a car crash that took place Tuesday afternoon in Newton County.

The incident occurred on Missouri Highway 59, 1 mile south of Diamond.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash report says 70-year-old Robert Lowry was traveling when he went off the right side of the roadway, hit a culvert, and overturned.

Lowry was transported by ambulance to Mercy Joplin where he later died.

Lowry was not wearing a seatbelt.
