Mt. Vernon driver injured in Saturday evening crash

28-year-old Blake E. Krase  of Mt. Vernon was driving a 2021 Cadillac around 6:30 Saturday evening.

But when he got to the intersection of Highway 39 at Highway 96, about five miles north of Mt. Vernon, the Missouri State Highway Patrol says he failed to yield.

As a result, Krase’s car crashed into a pickup driven by  58-year-old Timothy R. Gerkey of Springfield.

Krase was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield  suffering serious injuries. Gerkey was not injured.

Both drivers were wearing safety devices at the time of the accident, according to the Patrol’s Crash Report.
