Four now certified as City Council candidates

And then there were four.

Four people now are officially certified as candidates in the race for City Council in Joplin. To be certified, people have to get 150 signatures of registered voters in the city. For the four zone seats, half of the signers must be residents of the zone.

Zone 4 council person Diane Reid Adams will face off with Mark Farnum. Both have been certified.

Kate Spencer and Brian Evans also have been certified.

Those who have obtained petitions so far are Zone 1 Councilman Gary Shaw, and general seat Councilmen Anthony Monteleone, Jon Buck, Eileen Donelly, Brad Esterline, Councilman Doug Lawson and Josh Shackles.

Nominating petitions must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Jan. 11 to the City Clerk to be verified before the candidates can be submitted for listing on the ballot.
