The event started last year
The Joplin Parks and Recreation Department has announced the return of a holiday tradition that started in 2020.
A new release from the Joplin Parks and Recreation Department says, “The Holiday Tree Trail is a series of decorated trees from area businesses and organizations placed along a portion of the trail at Mercy Park. Trees will be lit from November 30 through December 31 and guests can view the trees during park hours (7 a.m. to 11 p.m.).”
The Holiday Tree Trail starts Tuesday, November 30 at 6 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m.
Activities scheduled for that day include the lighting of 30 decorated trees along the park’s walking trail, performances by Karen’s Dance Studio students, hot cocoa cookies, a special StoryWalk, and visit by Santa, according to Parks and Recreation Department news release.
A separate tree decorating contest will take place from November 30 through December 22. Guests can walk the trail and vote for their favorite tree.
An additional event being held at the same time as the Holiday Tree Trail is the second annual Rock-n-Stroll Activity Challenge, which is free but participants must register starting November 30 at www.joplinparks.org or by calling 417-625-4750.
