Missouri American Water to present check to Joplin Fire Department

The event will take place tomorrow at 10 am

Missouri American Water will present a $1200.00 check to the Joplin Fire Department Friday, November 12 at 10 am.

The presentation of this check will take place at the Joplin Fire Department Headquarters at 303 East 3rd Street.

A news release from Missouri American Water says, “The grant was one of 37 awarded to fire departments throughout Missouri American Water’s service areas. Funds from the grant are used for personal protective gear, communications equipment, tools, training materials and community education programs. Resources and needs related to the pandemic are also eligible.”

The release also states, “The Missouri American Water Fire Fighter Grant Program is an annual program that provides grant opportunities to fire departments with Missouri American Water service territories. The grants serve to strengthen the partnerships we have with the communities we serve by providing financial assistance to the organizations that provide fire protection and emergency services. In 2017, we awarded $36,000 to firefighting agencies across the state through this program. The Joplin Fire Department will use the grant to purchase new safety vests to be used by engine crews on the scene of accidents that occur in areas of high traffic, such as Interstate 44.
This allows for more visibility, and ultimately can lead to safer working conditions.”
