The "Axe the Food Tax" aims to help Kansans save money at grocery stores
Today, Governor Laura Kelly announced she will introduce legislation to eliminate the state sales tax on food in Kansas.
Titled “Axe the Food Tax”, this legislation is aimed at helping Kansans save money on their grocery bill.
The state of Kansas is one of seven in the country that fully taxes groceries.
The state’s food tax rate is 6.5%.
The legislation will be introduced in the 2022 Legislative session.
