PSU to unveil seat tribute Saturday to honor veterans and service members

The chair will installed on the southwest side of the stands near the 40 yard line

Pittsburg State University will honor POW/MIA veterans with a dedicated seat at Carnie Smith Stadium during the upcoming game on November 6, known as the Military Appreciation Game.

During the halftime ceremony, cadets with PSU ROTC will assist with the unveiling.

A news release from Pittsburg State University says, “A black seat with PSU branding will sit empty at Saturday’s game, and every game in the future. The chair has “#1” in the top corner, indicating that ALL veterans are number one in our hearts and minds.”

The release goes on afterwards to say, “The PSU Honor Chair was fabricated by Hussey Seating and will be installed along with a dedication plaque on the southwest side of the stands near the 40-yard-line, the “best seat in the house,” reserved for veterans.”

Active and former service members can show their military IDs for a free ticket.

First responders also receive free admission.
