Freeman first annual Stiletto Sprint
Freeman Health System doctors and employees along with members of the Joplin city government, members of the local business community, Joplin Schools and some media representatives took a short dash in high heels Friday.
The race was an effort to call attention to the need for early detection and the help available through Freeman Helping Friends Mammogram Fund.
The nearly a dozen male participants have ties to someone that has been affected by breast cancer.
Travis Renfro from the KCU medical school of Joplin was the winner.
This was the first time the Stiletto Sprint has taken place.
It was held on the Freeman West grounds.
