Next National Drug Take Back Day set for tomorrow
Participating agencies will be collecting drugs from 10 am to 2 pm
Tomorrow is National Drug Take-Back Day.
The purpose of this day is “to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications,” according to a DEA summary of the event.
Two local law enforcement agencies participating in the event tomorrow will be the Missouri Southern Stae University Police Department, located at 507 N. Mission Hills Dr., and the Carl Junction Police Department at 302 N. Main St.
The last National Drug Take Back Day, which took place April 24 of this year, resulted in the recovery of 839,543 pounds being received.
There were 5,060 collection sites that were utilized, and 4,425 law enforcement agencies participated in the event.
