A promotion for “Deputy Z” in Vernon County

Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher announced on Friday that Deputy Zesar Huerta has
been promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Mosher says Sgt. Huerta started out as a correctional officer with Cimarron Correctional Facility in Oklahoma.

After graduating from the police academy at Missouri Southern State University in 2017, Huerta joined the
Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.

Since that time, Sgt. Huerta has held the county Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) officer position as well as being a Field Training Officer.

Sheriff Mosher said, “Deputy “Z”, as he is commonly known by the kids in the schools, never hesitates to stop and talk to the kids, help someone change a tire or be a listening ear. I know in this new position
he’ll continue to be a great asset to our community.”

Sgt. Huerta is working towards an Associate Degree in Business Management and expects to complete his studies next semester.
