The original crash happened Sunday afternoon
(AP) – Prosecutors have charged an eastern Missouri man accused of driving at more than four times the speed limit when he crashed, killing a 10-year-old child in his car and injuring two other children. Police say the crash happened Sunday afternoon in Sunset Hills when 32-year-old Christopher Townsend, of Normandy, was driving 87 mph in a 20 mph zone. Police say the car hit a boulder and flipped. The crash killed 10-year-old Kelyn Harbert, broke the femur of another child and injured a third. Townsend is charged with counts of endangering the welfare of a child resulting in death, serious physical injury and creating a substantial risk. He’s also charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
