NWS confirms two tornadoes touched down Monday morning

The National Weather Service confirms there were two tornadoes that touched down in the area early Monday morning.

The first was at 1:08 am, when an EF-1 tornado with 90 mile an hour winds tracked across southern Newton County parallel with I-49 just southwest of Neosho.

The second was an EF-0 tornado that touched down aruond 4:45 am south of Golden City. It had max winds of 85 miles an hour

There was some minor to moderate damage reported to some buildings in these rural areas but fortunately no injuries were reported.
