Two people arrested following Interstate shooting Friday night
One victim remains hospitalized
Two people were arrested following and two others hospitalized following a shooting that took place between vehicles on I-49 just south of Harrisonville.
A report from the Cass County Sheriff Office says deputies were dispatched to the area of northbound I-49 after receiving calls of two people being shot in a car while traveling north on I-49.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found apparent gunshot holes in the vehicle and two occupants inside with gunshot wounds.
Those individuals, a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman from Carthage, were transported to a Kansas City area hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Deputies located the suspect vehicle on I-49 north of Harrisonville. The Criminal Apprehension Unit then stopped the vehicle by deploying a grappler device and took Kawnn Parrish and Colleen Riley into custody without incident.
A juvenile was in the vehicle. They were released to the Division of Family Services.
Both individuals were charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon, 2 counts of Armed Criminal Action, 2 counts Assault 1st Degree and Accessory Armed Criminal Action.
Both are currently housed in the Cass County Jail.
