City of Joplin to hold open house meeting ahead start of stormwater project

The meeting is scheduled for October 7

The City of Joplin will soon start on a stormwater project near Lone Elm Road and Murphy Boulevard.

“The work includes replacing the existing double box culvert on Murphy Boulevard, west of Lone Elm Road, with a triple box culvert. The improvements will allow for more efficient stormwater conveyance as well as an opportunity to increase safety for motorists by widening the road and installing curb and gutter,” according to a news release from the City of Joplin.

For citizens that have questions, an open house public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 7.

The meeting will be from 4:30 PM to 6 PM in the cafeteria of Columbia Elementary School.

City engineers and representatives of Allegeir, the City’s design engineer firm, will be present to answer questions.
