October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month . . .
Breast cancer is one of the biggest killers of women in America.
Over the years, mammograms have become one of the top tools in fighting the disease. So what’s the problem?
“We recommend an annual mammogram for women beginning at age 40,” says Dr. Alan Buchele of the Freeman Hospital Medical Staff.
“As long as you’re healthy and can walk in and get one, we think women ought to come in and get a mammogram,” he adds.
He says raising awareness is a key goal.
He says least once a year Freeman offers mammograms to women who may not be able to afford this essential test.
