Pipe bomb explodes in yard of Carl Junction home

Police in Carl Junction continue to investigate after an apparent pipe bomb exploded in a yard Friday morning. Read the full press release below:

On September 17, 2021, around 2:00 am, the Carl Junction Police Department responded to a call about an explosive device detonating in the yard of a residence near Center Creek Park.

At this time we know that a subject on a dirt bike style motorcycle stopped in front of the residence and threw a pipe bomb in the yard, which then detonated.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms has been contacted to assist in the investigation. The Carl Junction Police Dept. is asking for anyone with any information about the incident or the suspect to call the Police Department at 417-649-7070.
