Thousands of Missouri households face possible eviction notices
The U.S.Supreme Court recently decided to block a national eviction moratorium and, as a result – calls from tenants in Missouri seeking emergency rental help are said to be increasing.
The Missouri Independent reports the Missouri Housing Development Commission – the MHDC – reportedly has been getting about 500 calls and responding to 200 emails per week.
Nearly 14,000 Missourians reportedly have been assisted with housing relief since early July and applications from 8,968 households have been approved.
But experts say an estimated 150,000 to 230,000 Missouri households are facing possible eviction notices.
