Two Riverton, KS residents taken into custody Sunday afternoon
Authorities were serving felony arrest warrants for Adam C Evans
Two Riverton, KS residents were taken into custody Sunday afternoon by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Authorities attempted to serve felony narcotics arrest warrants on Adam C Evans on Sunday; Evans and his companion, 35-year-old Shayna Nichole Wittnemyer, both fled from the home into a nearby wooded area when the search began, according to a Cherokee County Sheriff news release.
A K9 United pursued Evans, which he struck with a blunt object. The K9 appeared fine afterward.
Evans was apprehended moments later.
Wittenmeyer was also taken into custody.
Both suspects are being held in the Cherokee County Jail.
Wittenmyer is being held on suspicion of interfering with law enforcement.
Evans is being held without bond on allegations of Aggravated Battery Agains a Law Enforcement Officer, Obstructing Justice, Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, and the outstanding arrest warrants.
