Romance scams reported in the Joplin area

There’s nothing like meeting that special someone, even if its online.  But the Better Business Bureau says scammers are playing with men’s hearts in Joplin, taking their money and ripping them off.

“Always make sure you are researching the company before you go ahead and pay any money,” says  Stephanie Garland of the Better Business Bureau.

“You can go to our free website, BBB.org at any time. See if the dating site is accredited with us.  If you’re not cautious you can lose a lot of money this way and of course your heart can get broken.

She says the COVID-19 pandemic has led more men and women to turn to virtual dating sites.
