OU’s top lobbyist resigns amid sexual assault allegations
(AP) — The University of Oklahoma’s top lobbyist has resigned from his post amid allegations from a Norman woman that he sexually assaulted her.
The Norman Police Department confirmed Monday that detectives are currently investigating the allegations against 46-year-old John Woods, OU’s former director of government affairs. Formal charges have not been filed.
Woods’ attorney, Steve Stice, confirmed Woods submitted his resignation from OU on Friday.
The woman’s allegations were outlined in a petition for protective order filed in Cleveland County earlier this month.
A judge last week granted the woman an emergency protective order.
A hearing in the matter is set for next week, and Woods’ attorney says Woods plans on “appearing and defending against these allegations.”
