Two Webb City Police Officers injured during overnight incident
The event occurred at 9:30 PM Thursday night
Two Webb City Police Officers were injured during an overnight incident around 9:30 according to the Webb City PD Facebook Page.
Officers were originally dispatched to the 800 block of East Fountain in reference to trespassing and illegal dumping. Upon arrival, officers detected several individuals with a truck and trailer.
When contact was made with the subjects, an altercation occurred and the two Web City Police Officers were assaulted. During the altercation, one of the subjects gained control of an officer’s taser and began tasing the officer while the other was on the ground.
The subject then attempted to gain control of the officer’s duty weapon, which the officer discharged; that shot struck the subject.
Afterward, the officer was able to gain control of the subject, secure them in handcuffs, and began administering medical attention.
The subject was transported to a nearby hospital.
One officer was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; the other was treated at the scene by EMS.
Five subjects were detained at the scene.
