Voters to decide the fate of tax, other issues today
This is election day. A wide variety of questions are being put before voters. Most deal with taxes.
Joplin voters will decide the fate of the renewal of the parks and storm water sales tax.
In Jasper County, Jasper County Emergency Services wants an increase of the sales tax from one-tenth of a percent to one quarter of a percent.
In Carthage, voters are being asked to approve a local use tax affecting online and out of state purchases.
Oronogo voters will decide the fate of a tax increase. The City of Purcell is asking voters to approve the sale of the water and wastewater system to Missouri American Water for $200,000.
Cherokee County voters will be asked to approve nearly $15 milllion in bonds for Columbus. Chetopa citizens will go to the polls to decide the fate of a proposed one half of one percent retailers’ sales tax.
