Truck overturns, Joplin man injured

A crash on Highway 97, ten miles northwest of Mt. Vernon, has resulted in serious injuries for a Joplin man.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred just before 8 p.m.Thursday evening when a southbound Ford pickup operated by 50-year-old Dustin A. James of Joplin traveled off the right side of the highway, over-corrected and then left the left side of the road and overturned.

James was was transported to Mercy Carthage Hospital with serious injuries.

The Highway Patrol report says he was not wearing a safety device at the time of the accident.
