Dog Park created for Joplin Bungalows residents; Ribbon cutting Wednesday
ESC’s Joplin Bungalows and Ozark Center are working together to create a Dog Park for the Bungalows’ residents.
A dedication and ribbon cutting for the Dog Park are planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Joplin Bungalows at 2613 S. McCoy Avenue. This will be an outdoor ceremony, physical distancing of 6 feet will be required for those who have not received a COVID-19 vaccination.
“According to research, dogs can be much more than simply a trusting buddy,” says Debbie Markman of the Economics Security Coporation in Joplin. “The evidence proving the physical benefits of living with a canine companion has been well documented, and varies from improved cardiovascular health and increased physical activity to lower cholesterol and decreased blood pressure.” .
Joplin Bungalows is a Limited Liability Company formed by Economic Security Corporation of Southwest Area. They were built in April 2020 to provide affordable housing for seniors and homeless veterans.
The Bungalows were funded by the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program.
