ADA, Okla. (AP) - Two people have been killed in the crash of a small plane in southern Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the single-engine Beechcraft Debonair crashed about 3:30 a.m. Friday in a wooded area about 12 miles southwest of Ada.

Killed in the crash were two Ada residents, 35-year-old pilot Derrick Sutherland and 30-year-old passenger Dakota Abbott.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration will seek a cause for the crash.

OHP Trooper Alan Fortner says rain and fog shrouded the area at the time of the crash.
