Oklahoma doctor warns of rising coronavirus rate in state
(AP) — An Oklahoma doctor is warning that a rise in coronavirus cases in the state could be the precursor to another surge of the illness. OU Health Dr. Dale Bratzler, who heads the University of Oklahoma’s coronavirus response, said Thursday that the seven-day average number of new cases in the state has increased 90%, from 99 daily new cases on June 7 to 190 per day currently. Bratzler said a virus outbreak in neighboring states, particularly the delta variant of the virus in southwest Missouri, is likely moving into northeastern Oklahoma as people travel Interstate 44 between the adjoining regions.
