Portions of Main Street to close today as Joplin prepares for The Great Race
The Sunshine Lamp Trolley service will also be affected
The City of Joplin has announced that Main Street will be closed today from 4th street to 7th Street as the city prepares to welcome The Great Race event.
Traffic east and westbound along 7th Street will continue.
The Sunshine Lamp Trolley will also have temporary changes today.
The trolley stop located at 6th and Main Street will be moved one block west to Joplin Avenue starting at 10 A.M.
This change will remain in effect for the rest of today.

The Great Race brings 120 of the world’s finest antique automobiles to the area, with the first car rolling onto Main Street at 4:45 P.M. this afternoon.
The event covers more than 2,300 miles in nine days, starting in San Antonio and ending in Greenville, South Carolina.
