Many property owners receiving reassessment notices

An age old adage says the only things sure in life are death and taxes.

If you own property in Jasper County, you may have received a notice that the assessed value of your homes and real property is going up.

That means your property taxes also will increase.

Jasper County Assessor Lisa Perry says the value of homes is going up nationwide.

The average increase in assessments is around 8 percent.

Taxpayers do have the right to appeal the changes.
