One killed and several injured after boating crash over the weekend on Meramec River

(AP) – Authorities in eastern Missouri say one man was killed and several others were injured when the boat they were in hit a large rock on the Meramec River. The boat crash happened around 9 p.m. Saturday a short distance downriver from George Winter Park. Saline Valley Fire officials say the 17-foot ski boat was traveling fast when it hit the boulder, splitting the boat apart and throwing the occupants. Officials did not immediately release the name of the man killed, but said he appeared to be in his 40s. Another person was critically injured and hospitalized. Officials say three other people were injured but would survive.
