Longtime area coach Mickey Heatherly dies
Longtime area football coach Mickey Heatherly has died.
Heatherly grew up in Picher, Oklahoma and played football at NEO and PSU.
He served as a coach and assistant coach in a number of area cities over the years including Carthage, Anderson, MacDonald County, Joplin Parkwood and others.
He was head coach at Memorial High School in Joplin in 1983 and ’84.
He later coached the Joplin High School Eagles for 10 years.
He also officiated in basketball, football and baseball games for a number of years.
Mickey Heatherly died Friday. He was 82 years old.
