Oronogo woman loses $500 in “car wrap” scam
A woman from Oronogo recently thought she had a fantastic job opportunity after an offer came through the mail.
All she had to do was have her car wrapped with a company’s logos, supposedly for the Aramark company.
Unfortunately, the whole thing was a ripoff.
The woman, excited about the job received a check for $1,400, which later bounced. In the end, the woman lost $500.
Stephanie Garland of the Better Business Bureau says the “car wrap” scam is tried and true favorite for scammers who see it as a quick payday.
“We want for you to take a step back and ask some hard questions,” Garland says, ” You should do that before you trust anything that comes through the mail, on your cellphone in a text message or that you see on social media.”
Garland says a heavy ounce of prevention could help you from losing big money to car wrap scammers.
