KS wins two national awards
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly today congratulated the Office of Information Technology Services (OITS) and Dr. DeAngela Burns-Wallace, Chief Information Technology Officer and Secretary of Administration, for winning two national awards related to cybersecurity and IT leadership.
“Congratulations to the Office of Information Technology and Dr. DeAngela Burns-Wallace on receiving these two prestigious awards,” said Governor Laura Kelly. “From modernizing and improving Kansas’s IT infrastructure, providing better service to our agencies, and focusing on cybersecurity, Dr. Burns-Wallace truly is a national thought-leader on IT – Kansas is lucky to have her.”
OITS and Dr. Burns-Wallace will receive the following awards:
- 2021 CSO50 Award recognizing the work of OITS on centralized monitoring
- 2021 StateScoop 50 Award recognizing Secretary DeAngela Burns-Wallace, Executive Branch Chief Information Technology Officer, for State Leadership of the Year
Implementation of the centralized monitoring system helps OITS collect data from State agencies, which promotes a holistic, enterprise-wide approach to cybersecurity.
Dr. Burns-Wallace is the recipient of the StateScoop 50 Award State Leadership of the Year. Since joining the State of Kansas as Executive Branch CITO in 2019, Dr. Burns-Wallace has succeeded in building a good working relationship with state agencies and the legislature as well as securing the acceptance of the State of Kansas into the National Governor’s Association 2021 Policy Academy to advance whole-of-state cybersecurity.
OITS will be presented with their award at the CSO50 Conference + Awards, November 16-18. StateScoop winners will be honored virtually with Q&A interviews released on StateScoop.
