Oklahoma wildlife officials shoot, kill black bear

Oklahoma wildlife officials say they shot and killed a black bear that had wandered into the backyard of a Norman family’s home.

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation says its employees were forced to kill the young male black bear after efforts to tranquilize the animal failed.

The wildlife agency says finding the bear in a populated metropolitan area was surprising. O

Oklahoma has an estimated population of about 2,500, and established a black bear hunting season about a decade ago.
