City of Joplin announces Schifferdecker Aquatic Center pool hours ahead of Memorial Day Weekend
The pool will open May 29
As Memorial Day arrives next week, so does the star of the swim season for the City of Joplin.
Due to lack of staffing, Schifferdecker Aquatic Center will be the only pool open starting Saturday, May 29, according to a news release from the City of Joplin.
Schifferdecker Aquatic Center will be open seven days a week following the opening, with operating hours of 1 PM to 6 PM with extended hours on Fridays until 8 PM.
Admission is $5.50 for visitors age 15 and under and $6.50 for visitors 16 years old and over. There is no charge for children two and under.
Season swim passes are available to purchase at Joplin Athletic Complex at 3301 W 1st Street in Joplin.
To date, City staff has hired and trained 42 lifeguards; however, the Department needs at least 90 lifeguards to safely operate all three aquatic centers during the season.
