MSHP to be out in full force for Memorial Day weekend

Operation C.A.R.E will be in effect from May 28-May 31

As we enter the middle of May, Memorial Day is not far away and the Missouri State Highway Patrol will be out enforcing Operation C.A.R.E during the upcoming holiday, also known as Crash Awareness Reduction Effort.

The Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start to the boating season, and during the 2020 Memorial Holiday, there were 11 boating crashes, one fatality, and seven injuries. 11 people were arrest by troopers for boating while intoxicated last year.

10 people were killed and 444 were injured in 1081 traffic crashes that occurred over the 2020 holiday weekend.

This year’s Memorial Day period begins at 6 PM Friday, May 28, and ends at 11:59 PM Monday, May 31. Areas of focus will be seat belt use, child safety seats, impaired drivers, hazardous moving violations, and speed violations.

Motorists who want to report a crime should call 1-800-535-5555 of *55 on your cell phone.
