Gas tax doesn’t have to go to roads and bridges
Governor Mike Parson is likely to sign a bill into law that would raise Missouri’s gas tax that was passed by the Missouri Legislature on Wednesday.
The bill will increase the state gas tax by twelve and a half cents over a five year period.
On Thursday’s KZRG Morning News Watch, State Representative Ben Baker of Neosho said that the gas tax would not have to be used on roads and bridges. “There was an amendment that was floated that would specifically dedicate the funds to roads and bridges. And they wouldn’t want to take amendment.”
The first two and a half cent increase will take effect in October.
