Kids could get covid vaccine as early as next week

Missouri children as young as 12 years old could get their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of the week.

The Food and Drug Administration has authorized the emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine in that younger age group. The CDC is expected to sign off on the emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine in children 12 to 15 years old.

As far as potential side effects in children, doctors say it’s about the same as what was seen in adults: a possible fever and a sore arm that generally goes away in a few days.  For those questioning the importance of vaccinating young people, doctors say twice as many children have died of COVID-19 as typically die from the flu.
