Former Shawnee County, Kansas employee ordered to pay restitution after theft of funds
Jessica Jean Marie Schwerdt also faces 12 months of probation
A former Shawnee County employee has pleaded guilty to theft of county funds and been ordered to repay over $13,216 in restitution, according to Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt’s Office.
38-year-old Jessica Jean Marie Schwerdt pleaded guilty April 30 to one count of misdemeanor theft in Shawnee County District Court.
Schwerdt was sentenced to 12 months of probation and pay restitution to the county.
“Schwerdt was formerly employed in the county’s human resources department and admitted to taking cash that was intended for retiree insurance payments,” according to Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt.
