Help wanted – workers hard to find
Almost everywhere you drive in Joplin, you see now hiring signs. Employers are having a hard time finding workers to fill the jobs.
According to Pam Regan with the Missouri Job Centers in Joplin, the reason, the unemployed are making more money on unemployment benefits from staying at home and not working.
Regan says that the unemployed are not looking at the big picture. Unemployment insurance is paid by employers and if you lose your job, you may not have benefits available. Reports state that the unemployment federal aid is hurting the economy and not helping it.
