Administration of the Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccine to resume in Kansas

The vaccine administration was halted April 13

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced Monday that the administration of the Johnson and Johnson  (Janseen) Covid-19 vaccine would resume.

This followed an announcement on April 23 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration encouraging the resumption of the vaccine.

The Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccine’s administration was originally paused April 13 by the CDC and FDA after reports of some recipients in the United States developed a rare disorder involving blood clots within two weeks of vaccination.

Kansas’s next supply of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is anticipated the week of May 3 with 1700 doses.
