A man from Springfield face charges in the shooting death of another man
The incident occured Wednesday evening
A man from Springfield faces several charges including armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon in the shooting death of another man.
Police were dispatched to a Springfield residence Wednesday night where they found 28-year-old Springfield resident Jacob Rowden shot.
A witness saw 32-year-old old Cody Browning leave the scene and confronted Browing about why he was holding a gun.
Browning left the home afterward.
A separate witness told police that Rowden was reportedly upset about drugs missing from his wallet.
This sparked an argument that led to the shooting.
Afterward, Browning’s mother notified police that she believed her son was involved in the incident, according to investigators.
They also said that an ex-girlfriend told police Browning claimed the shot was fired in self-defense.
Police later found a van that Browning had stolen from her at a Springfield Kum and Go.
