Joplin Humane Society asking for the public’s help in nursing special needs animals
If interested, you must meet their requirements before becoming a foster
The Joplin Human Society is asking for the community’s help in nursing puppies or kittens that need special care, along with those that are orphaned.
There are several requirements that a potential foster must meet.
From The Joplin Humane Society:
• The primary foster caretaker must be 18 years or older
• The foster family must live within 45 minutes of Joplin Humane Society. (reason: all pets will come back to the shelter
several times for vaccines, etc.)
• You must be able to safely house the foster pet completely separate from other pets in the house (e.g. an extra
room, a crate) for the first few days and when unsupervised
• Cats/kittens are indoor-only fosters; sick foster pets must be quarantined from owned pets for the duration of the
foster; all foster pets must be kept completely separate from owned pets for at least a few days
• You must care for the foster pet as if it’s your own, keeping it in a climate-controlled area, providing fresh food and
water daily
• You must be willing to courteously address emails from adopters within 48 hours and set up meet-and-greets, if
you have an older pet ready for adoption.
