Woman arrested after young child found dead in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) – A 44-year-old woman is in custody after an 8-month-old girl was found dead in Columbia.

Police said in a news release Monday that Jennifer Johnson of Fayette is being held on possible charges including second-degree murder.

Police said officers went to a home late Sunday after receiving a report of a death.

They found the girl dead. Detectives determined the death was a homicide.

Police released no information Monday on how she died or Johnson’ relationship to her.
