Suspcious vehicle at Lamar Casey’s prompts area shutdown
The Springfield Fire Department Bomb Squad has been dispatched to the scene
After the discovery of a suspicious vehicle that a man drove to a Casey’s, the Lamar Police Department contacted the Springfield Fire Department Bomb Squad earlier this morning.
Reports say a man went into the business and said that he had a bomb in his car.
Officers responded and found multiple wires in the car.
Officers are currently waiting for the bomb squad and will provide further updates later.
In a post made via Facebook, the department says:
“We will be shutting down 12th Street from Gulf Street to Lexington Street. Please avoid the area. Semi’s will be detoured to 17th Street as a way to get from Gulf to Lexington.”
Residents are asked to avoid the area if possible.
