Distinguished author to present virtually at PSU

Author Yuly Restrepo Garcés will virtually visit students and faculty at Pittsburg State University at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 15, in a presentation that also is open to the public.

She will be reading from her own work, discussing the craft of fiction writing, and leading those interested in a writing prompt. The event is free and is sponsored by the Distinguished Visiting Writers Series and the Student Fee Council.

Yuly Restrepo Garcés was born in Medellín, Colombia, and came to the United States nearly 20 years ago as an asylee. Her writing has appeared in numerous publications including Tampa Bay Noir anthology, CutBank, Catapult, PRISM International, Natural Bridge, and Zone 3. She is an Iowa Writers’ Workshop graduate, a MacDowell fellow, and an assistant professor of English at the University of Tampa.
