Trump blasts Arkansas Gov. after veto of transgender bill

Former President Donald Trump is blasting Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson after Hutchinson vetoed legislation to ban gender confirming treatments for transgender youth.

The full statement from Trump is below:

“Asa Hutchinson, the lightweight RINO Governor of Arkansas, just vetoed a Bill that banned the CHEMICAL CASTRATION OF CHILDREN.  “Bye-bye Asa,” that’s the end of him!  Fortunately for the Great State of Arkansas, Sarah Huckabee Sanders will do a fantastic job as your next Governor!”

The veto was then overridden by the Arkansas Legislature and will go into effect this summer.

The measure prohibits doctors from providing gender-confirming hormone treatment, puberty blockers, or surgery to anyone under 18 years old, or from referring them to other providers for the treatment

Hutchinson said that he vetoed the bill because it goes too far and is government overreach. His move followed pleas from pediatricians, social workers, and the parents of trans youth.
