Oxford University considering removing sheet music for the school curriculum
Claims say the music is a "slap in the pace" for students of color
Some staff members from the University of Oxford’s music department have allegedly suggested removing sheet music from the school’s curriculum because of connections to a “colonial” past
Reports say that music notation has not “shaken off its connection to its colonial past” and it would be a “slap in the pace: for students of color.”
The proposed changes come in response to the Black Lives Matter movement.
