Two people in custody after Friday night Topeka shooting
Both were taken into custody in Manhattan, Kansas
Two people were taken into custody in the case of a shooting that occurred Friday which left one person dead.
28-year-old Topeka resident Devonta Miller and 21-year-old Marysville resident Harlee Borders were arrested without incident in Manhattan, Kansas, according to a Topeka Police Department Facebook Post.
The duo was booked for Murder in the First Degree and several other charges.
Originally, Topeka authorities investigated a shooting around 10:20 PM in the 3100 block of SE Bryant in Topeka Friday night.
Reports say when officers got to the location, two people were found inside a home with apparent gunshot wounds.
One died at the scene, who was later identified as 39-year-old Kristi Rodriguez of Chanute and the other was taken to a hospital for life-threatening injuries.
A third person was also discovered to have sustained injuries from the shooting and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Those injuries were not life-threatening.
Both people taken to the hospital are expected to recover.
