Man from Joplin found guilty of sex charges against children fails to show for sentencing.
He was found guilty back in 2017.
A man from Joplin who was previously charged with child molestation, statutory sodomy, and two counts of statutory rape failed to show up for his sentencing on Monday, March 15.
50-year-old Robert Shields was found guilty on February 11, 2017.
Shields was released on bond the following day with the requirements of $100,000 surety, electronic monitoring, and house arrest at the address provided to the sheriff’s office.
Shields then failed to show on Monday, March 15.
This action caused the Court’s to motion for a bond forfeiture hearing set for May 24.
Law enforcement has issued a Be On the Lookout status for Robert Shields.
